Mika, a ten-year-old boy with Asperger’s Syndrome, has always found it difficult to make friends — until he meets Dana, a tell-it-like-it-is girl who thinks that the weirdest thing about Mika is that he likes math. Hearing a strange sound outside his building one winter night, Mika encounters the bizarre sight of a horse standing on a balcony across the courtyard. Mika and Dana soon learn that the horse belongs to Sascha, a former math teacher who won the horse in a lottery and is eager to sell it in order to pay off a gambling debt. Forming a remarkable bond with the horse, Mika enlists Dana in a bold plan to keep the animal and help Sascha out of his trouble. This extraordinary tale of friendship reminds us that our differences are what make us who we are.
